Our spaces

What to expect.

You don’t need the perfect words ready, or a clear diagnosis, before you start. Here’s what therapy through HUMEN is like.

Before you start

Therapy is simply a space to talk through what is happening, at your own pace, with someone qualified to help you find a way forward.

You can talk about stress, work, relationships, grief, anger, sleep, drinking, or just the feeling that something isn’t right. There’s no wrong place to begin.

Your first session

Your first session is mostly about getting to know each other. Your therapist will ask what’s brought you here and what you’d like to be different.

You can talk by video, phone or messaging, whichever feels easiest. COPY TO CONFIRM

Confidentiality

What you share stays between you and your therapist, within the limits explained by BetterHelp before you begin. HUMEN does not see what you discuss. COPY TO CONFIRM

If it isn’t the right fit

Not every therapist suits every person, and that’s normal. You can ask to be matched with someone else. COPY TO CONFIRM

If therapy isn’t what you need right now, our support page lists other trusted talking groups, community activities and helplines, so you’re never stuck without an option.

Important boundaries

HUMEN is not a crisis service, and this isn’t a crisis route. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999. If you need urgent mental health support, contact NHS 111 or Samaritans on 116 123. HUMEN Space 1:1 Therapy is here for support before crisis, not during one.
